About
Word Zeal is a writing blog for writers, bloggers, poets and all others who enjoy playing with words, especially those who might call themselves a word nerd. This blog will celebrate and explore words while helping writers of fiction and non-fiction feel happier about their writing.
Writing is hard and lonely and depressing and exhausting. That’s part of the reason writers are who they are, and, yes, writers need this darkness, need to invite it in and lie alone with it. But perhaps writers can find ways to push through this oddness and to pursue happiness or simply OK-ness. I don’t know. But I’d like to explore this idea and all ideas that branch off of it.
But we all hurt in so many different ways, all the time, and pain will either change or end. Death, on the other hand, is the final silence. And that might be coming quickly, now, without regard for whether I had ever spoken what needed to be said, or only betrayed myself into small silences, while I planned someday to speak, or waited for someone else’s words. — Audre Lourde
This blog will also explore the now and future of writing and unique ways writers are using words. How to survive today and into the future. Because the world needs writers, needs creative people. Needs us to stay around and produce the wonderful things we do. I hope you’ll join me and become us and maybe we can work to figure this out.
